Music, Christmas, and peace on Earth

I just sat back to realize how incredibly close we are getting to Christmas and how I haven't really listened to any Christmas music unless it is while shopping in a store. I used to make a habit of listening to crooners singing Christmas music weeks before the actual holiday.

I think that many times we miss out when we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. We forget to enjoy the simple things such as sitting by the Christmas tree and listening to music, or even taking time out to blog (which I was going to skip today, but decided that it would be best not to).

I enjoy sitting in the quiet of my house listening to it's little creaks and moans, entertaining the little sounds that mean all is at peace in my home. It brings a type of joy to one's life to realize that not everything is work and stress; that deadlines don't always have to be end all.

In another note, I did hear a very strange Christmas song that thoroughly disturbed me. It's about a girl who haphazardly gives her heart away to a different guy every Christmas. It's unusual to say the least. If you hear it, just chuckle, I'm not sure how much thought went into writing that song.

No More

Due to the agonizing pain, irritability, and possibility of a nervous breakdown; I decided cease on the consumption of copious amounts of the disgusting lemon drink.

I've decided to slowly transition myself into healthier living verses shocking my very soul into it. Starting tomorrow, I will eat healthier and make sure that I stay on track.

On a lighter note, We found something to do with the leftover lemons. We have made a very yummy freshly squeezed orange/lemon juice. This is an actual juice and not the hellish concoction that I was previously drinking.

The boys loved juicing the oranges and lemons. They stated that the juice was awesome! They also said that they were happy that they are drinking a healthy juice with no "chemicals" (that's what Christian stated).

Day 2 and popcorn

Day two of the "master cleanse" and now I feel like hell. It's okay though because these feelings tend to dissipate by day 4. I kept myself busy by cooking the boys pancakes and sleeping off a monster headache brought on by no caffeine in my system.
I honestly cannot stand the taste of the ingredients when put together, so I decided to take each ingredient of the cleanse one part at a time. That was much better...  The worst part was the spoonful of maple syrup. I don't  know why, but it is just plain nasty when not on top of pancakes or waffles.

Here is a photo that the proponents of the master cleanse want you to think you will be drinking...

Here is a photo of what it actually looks like...

On an interesting note and substantially less disgusting note... (at least I find it interesting)
We've decided to only have popcorn if cooked over the stove, I read an article recently that stated that the bags in microwave popcorn leech chemicals into the popcorn as you microwave it. I think it's more fun to cook popcorn over the stove anyway. It's also extremely easy. So, for anyone who doesn't know, here's how...
1. Get a pot with a lid

2. place a small layer of cooking oil or butter at the bottom

3. place another small layer of popcorn (this is where I usually mess it up by putting in too much popcorn and thus creating a mountain of popcorn)

4. move the popcorn consistently over a medium to high heat so you don't burn the popcorn

5. The popcorn will begin popping (this is the fun part to watch). When the popping stops, take the popcorn off the stove, season, and serve.

I love stove popcorn. I think it tastes WAY better than the microwave popcorn... And of course I have to talk about it when I'm cleansing and can't have any, but I guess that's the nature of the beast.

I do have to thank Ivy McClarran for introducing how awesome stove top popcorn is, because I had never had it before a year ago.

My children's Christmas list...

My eldest:
Kindle Fire
Legos
a FONDU POT????

My youngest:
Kindle Fire
gumball machine...
Jelly bean machine...
Carnival popcorn machine???

I'm wondering if they're trying to say something about my cooking?

New to this

So, I've never actually done a blog before... I'm hoping this goes well. I'm also hoping that it won't be like one of my many attempts to journal in the past. I would always journal consistently for about 3 to 4 days and then completely forget.
We'll see...
Today, I thought would be a good time to start blogging. I have decided to start the "master cleanse" again. This will be my 3rd time doing the cleanse. It's definitely an interesting event. It's really difficult to complete and will probably make me break down and cry on multiple occasions. I figured that this would be the best time to begin the cleanse because in one week, I go on Christmas break.

The plan: I plan on continuing this as long as I can. Hopefully up to the 40 day mark. That will put me up through January 19th. The past couple of times I completed the master cleanse, I lasted about 12 days. We'll see how far it goes this time.

Today: Today was not fun. My body HATES drinking lemon juice. I threw up half of my second drink of the day. Reminder: Always drink this crap over a sink...
